1) Sania Mirza

Sania is definitely a game-changer. She started playing tennis at the age of six and became a professional tennis player at age 16. Not only that, she held rank in women's doubles 1 for 91 weeks.

2) Mary Kom

Mary Kom's life has been challenging from the very start. For a woman to follow her passion in boxing wasn't taken very well by Indian families. Despite all the adversities, Mary continued to follow her dream and became an Olympic boxing player.

She is the only female boxer in the country to win a medal in six world championships Moreover, she won a gold medal in the Asian Games in 2014. Our boxing star Mary was awarded with a Padma Bhushan for being an outstanding boxer.

3) Saina Nehwal

This Olympic medalist is an inspiration for Indians who wish to play badminton professionally. Saina is an outstanding professional badminton player who created history by winning a gold medal in Commonwealth Games 2010.

After that, she reached a major milestone in her life by winning an Olympic medal in the London games 2012. Saina was awarded the highest national sporting award- the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award.

4) Geeta Phogat

Born in Haryana where women are discouraged to play sports let alone wrestling, Geeta won a gold medal in wrestling in Commonwealth Games 2010 and made her whole state proud.

She was the first Indian to receive a gold medal in wrestling. She also qualified for summer wrestling.

5) Sakshi Malik

She is the first Indian female wrestler to win a medal in Olympics. She belonged to a family of wrestlers and started playing this sport at the age of 12.

6) PV Sindhu

PV Sindhu is the first Indian female athlete to make an achievement at a young age. She won Asia youth under-19 championship. Moreover, she won a bronze medal at World Championship in 2013 and 2014.

She was 21 years old when she won a silver medal in badminton at Summer Olympics.

7) Deepika Kumari

Rani was only 15 when she represented India at the World Cup. She got a breakthrough at the Champion's Challenge Tournament. She made the maximum goals in the team and is also known as the young player of the tournament.
