Significance of National Education Day, Why it is Celebrated on 11th November?

"Every individual has a right to an education that will enable him to develop his faculties and live a human life," said Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, the great activist, Islamic theologian, and Congress leader. He was a great freedom fighter who contributed to many freedom struggle movements such as Quit India Movement, Non-Cooperation Movement, and many other movements. After Independence, He was appointed as the Union Education Minister of India. During his tenure (1947- 1958), he established many educational institutes and boards which are now the foundation of the present education system. Some of the most important boards and institutes set up under his tenure are University Grants Commission, All India Technical Education, IIT Kharagpur, and Jamia Milia Islami University. His utter commitment and great deeds for developing the Indian Education System have gifted us many universities and well-managed education boards. That is why every year, We remember him on his birth anniversary on 11 November and celebrate it as “National Education Day”.
