The ongoing ODI series between India and Srilanka has been a one-sided affair. The story continued in the 3rd ODI where India won the match by 6 wickets courtesy to some amazing performances by Bumrah ( 5wickets), Rohit ( 124*) and M.S Dhoni who scored 67 not out. After winning the toss for the first time in this series Srilanka selected to bat first, but only managed to put 217 on board and India chased it down quite easily.

Dhoni while scoring his 67* became the only player to remain not out for the 40th time while chasing successfully. The next best being Jonty Rhodes with 33 not-out in successful run chases. He also has a staggering average of 101.4 while chasing which is highest in the world. Here are a few stats to give you an idea where Dhoni stands.

Most not-out in successful run chases:

M.S Dhoni - 40 times.

Jonty Rhodes - 33 times.

Inzamam-ul-haq - 32 times.

Ricky Ponting - 31 times.

Before the start of this series, many people were questioning Dhoni’s form and place in the team. Critics were demanding for a fresh player to be included but with these performances in the last two ODIs, he has answered them all with his bat. Ravi Shastri the head coach put it very beautifully when enquired about Dhoni’s performance, he said: “You can’t buy the experience and calm of Dhoni from a market shop.”

With this win, India sealed the 5-match series as well, with two matches still to be played. India is currently 3-0 in the ongoing series and skipper Kohli has hinted at changing the team to give more opportunities to the youngsters.
