Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is planning to launch 5G services trials in India by the end of this financial year. BSNL is the state-owned entity with the highest share of optical fiber network of 7 lakh KM among the current Telecom companies. The BSNL MD Anupam Shrivastava has said that Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited has signed an agreement with Coriant Solutions to plan and roll out 5G service in India by 2018. Anupam Shrivastava also cleared that the partnership is a non-commercial one. The Coriant Telecom will provide its assistance in planning and architecture of the 5G service rollout and field trials.

The new 5G technology will work on the same network line of 4G and 3G with improved latency. The Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited(BSNL) is also involved in talks with Nokia and L&T for field trial roll out. 5G technology will put forward the digital growth of India among the top developing countries. Nokia has agreed to help in field trials while L&T will be responsible for network architecture and roll out of optical fiber in the field trial.

The CEO of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited(BSNL)  Shaygan Kheradpir also emphasized on the benefits and connectivity improvements 5G technology will bring in India. Shaygan Kheradpir while addressing the media explained how great speeds will make the path for real-time computation which will be used by self-driving cars and complex computers with ease. The field trials are set to begin by March 2018 and Coriant along with Nokia and L&T will be the in charge of it.
