Atal Bihari vajpayee, our former prime minister was rushed to hospital on Monday because of being ill. He was admitted to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) for a urinary tract infection. Vajpayee was bedridden since 2009. He has been suffering from lower respiratory tract infection and kidney- related issues. He was the prime minister between 1998-2004.

AIIMS informed that Vajpayee has been “diagnosed with a urinary tract infection” for which treatment is being given under supervision of the team of doctors.

However Aarti vij, chairperson of AIIMS’ media and protocol division concluded that, “The former Prime Minister has been admitted for examination and management. He is stable.”

Initially it was said that he was admitted for routine check up but when his condition soared BJP chief, Amit Shah and Congress president Rahul Gandhi visited at the hospital. PM Narendra Modi also appeared in the hospital and spent around 50 mins talking to the doctors and Vajpayee’s family. BJP veteran L K Advani and Union health minister J P Nadda were among those who visited the hospital.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers on Tuesday organised prayers in various parts of the country for the wellbeing of Atal Bihari Vajpayee. A ‘Havan’ was conducted in Kanpur.

As his health got worse, he gradually evacuated himself from public life and has been confined to his residence for many years.
