Sixteen students of Kendriya Vidyalaya across the country have been selected to witness the landing of Chandrayaan-2 on the surface of the moon with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The historic landing will be done on September 7, 2019. The students across the country were selected through an Online Space Quiz conducted by Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) in all the KVs.

A total number of 150279 students from various Kendriya Vidyalayas from all over the country participated in the online Space Quiz conducted by ISRO out of which only 16 students are selected. The ‘Space Quiz’ was conducted for students from Class 8 to Class 10. Those children with the most number of correct answers in 10 minutes emerged the winners.

According to IANS report, the Human Resource Development (HRD) ministry had written to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and other state boards to encourage the children to participate in the quiz. It was conducted to promote awareness among children about India's ambitious space programme.

The landing of Chandrayaan-2 is expected to make India the fourth nation in the world, along with the USA, USSR and China, to land on the moon.
