Modi government redrew the map of Jammu and Kashmir in a historic move on Monday and stripped the state of its special status by scrapping Article 370. The govt has also moved to bifurcate the state into two Union Territories - Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir. 

Amit Shah says Jammu and Kashmir Decision has now taken up in Lok Sabha. NSA Ajit Doval is in Kashmir to review the ground situation and has said that locals are happy with the move.  Before making the big announcement, Centre had rushed an additional 38,000 troops to the Valley and another batch of 8,000 personnel was sent on Monday after the announcement. 

Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik reviewed the security situation and emphasized the need for constant alertness and preparedness to deal with any eventuality. Top political leaders of Kashmir such as Omar Abdullah, Mehbooba Mufti, and others were arrested on Monday night. 

Internet and phone lines continue to remain suspended in Jammu and Kashmir as tension simmers in the Valley after the scrapping of Article 370 that gave special status to the state. 

Ram Madhav says Jammu, Ladakh celebrating, Kashmir will too

BJP general secretary and Jammu and Kashmir in-charge, Ram Madhav speak to India Today TV, says, "Doomsday predictors are those leaders for whom Article 370 used to be a bread and butter issue. 

In the last 24 hours, Jammu and Ladakh were seen in celebratory mode. In Kashmir, no celebrations were seen but the Valley is calm and no incidents have been reported yet. If the right message goes out, people will realize that the decision will only benefit them."
