India skipper and Capitan Cool Virat Kohli became the leading run-scorer against West Indies in 2nd ODI cricket, breaking a 26-year-old record of former Pakistan batsman Javed Miandad. Kohli gained the landmark when he reached 19 by taking a single towards a deep backward point in the fifth over of India vs West Indies 2nd ODI three-match series in Port of Spain on Sunday. Kohli went on to score his 42nd ODI century off 112 balls. Paceman Carlos Brathwaite finally got rid of the Indian skipper at the score of 120 in the 42nd over. Javed Miandad took 64 innings to score 1930 runs against the West Indies but Kohli took over just 34 innings.

Indian captain Virat did not get the chance to bat in the first ODI of the series as West Indies had batted first and only 13 overs could be bowled before the rain in providence confirmed that the match was washed out.

In the T20I series that preceded the ODIs, Kohli was India's highest scorer with 106 runs under his belt. Virat was the second-highest run-scorer in the series overall behind Kieron Pollard who scored 115 runs. India won the series 3-0.
